Remove an intimate image
Ask us to take down an intimate image.
If an intimate photo or video of you is posted on Melanated Community without your consent, we’ll remove it, and any identical copies we know of, within 48 hours of a valid request. You don’t need an account.
The forum isn’t open yet, so nothing is posted here today. This is the process from the day it opens. If an image of you is somewhere else right now, start here.
What to send
Email hello@melanated.community with “Take it down” in the subject line. Include these four things:
- Where it is. A link to the post, or enough detail for us to find it. You don’t need to send us the image itself.
- A short statement. Say that you believe, in good faith, that it was posted without your consent. Add anything that helps us check.
- Your signature. Sign it, or type your full name as your electronic signature.
- How to reach you. An email address or phone number.
Someone you’ve authorized can send it for you. Once the forum is open, you’ll also be able to use the report option on the post.

Along with any identical copies we know of.

We work to stop it coming back
The account that posted it is banned, and we’ll use the tools the FTC suggests to block re-uploads.
Under 18
If the image shows someone under 18
It’s child sexual abuse material. We remove it, ban the account and report it to the CyberTipline. You can report it there yourself too, at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.

What a removal request needs
A removal request is made in writing and includes a physical or electronic signature, enough information to find the image or video, a brief statement of your good faith belief that it was shared without consent, and a way to contact you. Someone authorized to act for you can send it.

Remove within 48 hours
After a valid removal request, a covered platform has to take down the image or video and known identical copies within 48 hours.

People don't need an account on the site to request removal, so the process should work for visitors as well as members.

Stopping re-uploads
The FTC suggests hashing removed images so they can't be reposted, and sharing those hashes with NCMEC's Take It Down service for minors or StopNCII.org for adults.

A free tool for adults whose intimate images were taken when they were 18 or older. It creates a digital fingerprint (hash) of the image and shares it with participating companies so they can find and remove copies.

A free service that helps remove or stop the sharing of nude or sexually explicit images or videos taken of you before you turned 18. You can stay anonymous and don't have to send the images to anyone.
